I bought 2 of these lamps for my sons' desks. I hesitated to buy them because I prefer a more traditional design. I gave in when I couldn't find a more traditional design with all of the nice features that this lamp has and because I would be sending these to college with my boys and in the long run I though they would prefer this style over a more traditional style. Now that they're in place, I like the eclectic mix of the contemporary lamps with my traditional furniture.
I was specifically looking for a compact, durable, adjustable lamp with a dimmer switch and halogen bulb. The bulb does give off a fair amount of heat but I felt that this does not outweigh the other great features of this lamp. I did not really want to pay this much for lamps but after doing some research found that less expensive lamps were less durable and/or did not offer the combination of features that I was looking for. The lamps did comes virtually fully assembled. However, an allen wrench was included with it and the instructions did not clearly indicate that it was to be used to tighten the wobbly base in three different places. Once we figured that out we were home free.

Nice that it has dimmer but unless it is all the way up illumination is not sufficient. This lamp get VERY HOT! to the touch and throws off pretty good amount of heat kind of nice in winter time but, when summer rolls around if there is no AC or poor AC for I suggest a fluorescent lamp. I thought halogen bulb would be whiter light but it still has that yellow tint to it. For the price I think there are better deals.

This lamp arrived in good condition in a folded condition. Included was a small Allen wrench to extend and tighten the set screws. This was simple. Lamp is universally adjustable and the rheostat is a big plus for low or higher lighting needs. This is a handsome lamp and I placed it on my Zuo Modern desk and it gives a great appearance.

I had one of these lamps 15 years ago, but unfortunately on a move, it was dropped. Believe it or not, it still worked, but the glass was broken and just was really too much trouble to find a replacement so out it went. Then I saw this one. Same exact lamp, albeit a little more expensive then 15 years ago. It arrived the next day very well packed! This lamp is still fantastic, the dimmer function is great so I can get the brightness I need and it's adjustable to several postions. Very sturdy, it is heavy and very well balanced, so don't kid yourself, this is one tough lamp. You can just feel the quality in it. I am very pleased.

i use the product as a desk lamp for my college dorm room. the lamp is absolutely perfect for my set-up and looks stylish yet classy. i have nothing to complain about, but the lamp does make a barely audible buzzing noise when the lamp is not being used at full power.
