The mini leaf design of the Butterfly Leaf Mini Table Lamp is small yet fun. This lamp will fit in almost any location, yet still shows off the beauty of the detailed leaf work. It features a shade of intricately laid, fossilized alibangbang, known as the "butterfly" leaf in the native language of the South Pacific, because it is shaped like a butterfly. It has both medicinal and food flavoring purposes throughout the South Pacific area. Fossilization is the process of drying leaves over a three- to four-month period and hand-rubbing the chlorophyll off of the leaf so only the leaf's skeleton remains. The leaf is then stained in organic dyes. Natural leaves absorb dye differently, so each lamp has leaves with different hues and shades, sometimes even within the same leaf.
The inner diffuser is made from real, handmade abaca paper laid over a heat-resistant lamp backing. The frame is constructed from wrought iron, making this lamp very strong and durable. It is also powder-coated in order to ensure longevity of its color. This lamp uses one 25-watt medium base bulb, and energy-efficient, compact florescent bulbs are highly recommended.
